SENSATIONAL SERIES/SCORE A COPY: Highlander by Karen Marie Moning

In the spirit of Highlander week I wanted to highlight a series that I absolutely LOVED - Highlander by Karen Marie Moning.

Please be aware that I read these books quite a while ago and I only want to give you a brief overview, so the blurbs are shortened and the reviews are only mini - otherwise this post would go on forever.

Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander #1)

He would sell his warrior soul to possess her. . . .
An alluring laird...
He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart--until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length--but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

To Tame A Highland Warrior (Highlander #2)

Only her love could gentle his savage soul—

He was born to a clan of warriors of supernatural strength, but Gavrael McIllioch abandoned his name and his Highland castle, determined to escape the dark fate of his ancestors. Hiding his identity from the relentless rival clan that hunted him, he called himself Grimm to protect the people he cared for, vowing never to acknowledge his love for ravishing Jillian St. Clair. Yet even from afar he watched over her, and when her father sent an urgent summons, "Come for Jillian," he raced to her side—into a competition to win her hand in marriage.

The Highlander's Touch
(Highlander #3)

4.5 HEARTS

A Warrior Of Immortal Powers

He was a mighty Scottish warrior who lived in a world bound by ancient laws and timeless magic. But no immortal powers could prepare the laird of Castle Brodie for the lovely accursed lass who stood before him. A terrible trick of fate had sent her 700 years back in time and into his private chamber to tempt him with her beauty - and seduce him with a desire he could never fulfill. For this woman he burned to possess was also the woman he had foresworn to destroy. more

I really love this series. A very unoriginal comment - but thats simply how I feel.

All the Highlanders have been swoon worthy and have unlimited amounts of dedication and passion to their loves that it makes my heart race. I haven't read about a Highlander that I wouldn't wrap my legs around (but to be honest I wouldnt be real picky, if I ever met a live Scot I wouldn't care if he was buck tooth and beer bellied, i'm more then happy to keep the likes out as long as he continue to talk to me with that drop dead sexy accent).

I can't fault these books, they have a great romantic build up and I love how the book is based more on their emotional relationship instead of the physical.

IF YOU HAVEN'T STARTED READING THIS SERIES - DO IT NOW!!

Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander #4)

A laird trapped between centuries...
Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he'd ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world. Drustan knew he had to return to his own century if he was to save his people from a terrible fate. And he needed the bewitching woman by his side....more

This was a freakishly sexy version of Sleeping Beauty I suppose and I loved every minute of it.

It was extremely sweet and I am now at the point that I would kill to be tupped by a Scottish Highlander...come find me boys!

Drustan will most definitely be in my dreams tonight - see you soon sweet thing.

Favourite quotes:
1 "But this is no safe cherry picker, Gwen thought, growing more concerned by the moment. This man looks like a cherry tree chopper-downer"

2. "Let's get something straight, MacKeltar. I am not going home with you. I am not going to bed with you, and I am not wasting one more moment arguing with you."
"I promise not to mock you when you change your mind, lass."

3. "If aught must be lost, 'twill be my honor for yours. If one must be forsaken, 'twill be my soul for yours. Should death come anon, 'twill be my life for yours. I am Given."

The Dark Highlander (Highlander #5)

4 HEARTS

I am Dageus MacKeltar, a man with one good conscience and thirteen bad ones, driven to sate my darkest desires…
From his penthouse lair high above Manhattan, Dageus looks out over a glittering city that calls to the darkness within him. A sixteenth-century Scot trapped between worlds, he is fighting a losing battle with the thirteen Druids who possess his soul, dooming him to an eternity of sexual pursuit. When Chloe Zanders, student of antiquities, is drawn into his world, she finds the insatiable alpha male an irresistible lure. Before long, she is caught up in an ancient prophecy that will sweep her back into time to medieval Scotland. Plunged into a world of timeless magic and dark seduction, she will soon face the challenge of a lifetime: fighting thirteen evil spirits for the heart of one irresistible man....

I'm a sucker for a tortured soul and Dageus definitely fit the criteria.

He is the swoon worth hero that is dominant and masculine to the bone, but has a huge heart that makes you want to cuddle and straddle him all at the same time.

Karen writes such a remarkably perfect highland romance that you can't help nagging your significant other to impersonate the accent during 'bedroom time.'

Seriously is there any other accent that compares to the sexiness of these Highlanders? I'm willing to smack down anyone that disagrees.

Favourite quote:

raking a hand through his hair, he forced his attention to the text she'd left on the coffee table, refusing to dwell on the disconcerting fact that a part of him had taken one look at the lass in such proximity to his bed and said simply: Mine.

The Immortal Highlander (Highlander #6)

With his long, black hair and dark, mesmerizing eyes, Adam Black is Trouble with a capital T. Immortal, arrogant, and intensely sensual, he is the consummate seducer, free to roam across time and continents in pursuit of his insatiable desires. That is, until a curse strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible, a cruel fate for so irresistible a man. With his very life at stake, Adam’s only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.
Enter law student Gabrielle O’Callaghan, who is cursed with the ability to see both worlds: Mortal and Faery. From the moment she lays eyes on this stunning male, Gabby is certain of one thing: He could be her undoing. more

Adam Black has been the only constant character through out this series and to be honest although he is drop dead gorgeous (and I would never-EVER kick him out of bed) I didn't think I would like his book all that much because he's always been such an arrogant tool.

But *hangs head in shame* I should have had more faith in Karen Marie Moning - she has never disappointed me before.

To be honest I would probably say this was my favourite book in the series (although I have loved them all).

Adam is such a sweet seducer and I fell in love with wholeheartedly - straight away. I'd take him bananas and all *inside joke - must read the book*

Favourite quotes:

1 "It had just been made excruciatingly clear to him that the human male brain and the human male cock couldn't both sustain sufficient amounts of blood to function at the same time."

2. "....The Tutha De do not speak of Tuatha De matters to"- he gave her an icy sneer - "mere mortals."

"Well, mister-mere-mortal-yourself," she bristled right back at him, "maybe you'd better get used to it, because whether or not you like it, you need at least one of us 'mere mortals' to help you become a pompous-asshole-fairy-thing again."

3. "Possession is nine-tenths of the law, Gabrielle. Seeing as how your bottom is currently in my hands, not yours, I believe that makes it mine."
