Here's some info from Goodreads about the book series that this
AWESOME SHOW is based on:
The Southern Vampire Mysteries, also known as The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, is a series of books written by bestselling author Charlaine Harris that were first published in 2001 and now serve as the source material for the HBO television series True Blood. The series has been retronymed the True Blood Series upon reprinting to capitalize on the television adaptation.
In The Southern Vampire Mysteries series, Harris develops a detailed mythology and alternate history that approaches supernatural beings as real; at the beginning of the series, vampires have only been public knowledge for a couple of years. Other supernatural beings, such as werewolves, shapeshifters, etc., exist but do not go public until later in the series. Its history has otherwise unfolded so closely to that of the real world that the series contains occasional references to popular culture.
The series is narrated in first person perspective by Sookie Stackhouse. She is a waitress and a telepath in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. The first book in the series, Dead Until Dark, won the Anthony Award for Best Paperback Mystery in 2001. The eleventh book, Dead Reckoning, was released on May 3, 2011. Harris was originally contracted to write 10 books, but she revealed at Comic Con 2009 that she has signed a contract for three additional books.

I soooo need to clear off my book shelves! So, you know what? I'm giving away my PB collection of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Below are the books that I'm giving away to one (1) US resident. These are books 1 - 10 in the series and they are a mix of both used (maybe with writing as the continuity in the first half of the series sucks) and unused books.

I'm so jealous that you got to meet Charlaine Charity! I've only meet a few authors and long to meet more.
DeleteSo excited!! I've read almost all of the books as they come out (I'm behind on the last 2) but I only own two and always borrowed the rest. I've always wanted my own set of them, so thanks for the giveaway!! I definitely will be following this hop and I have skarsgasms every time I see that sexy, sexy man. I fell in love with him in Zoolander and seeing him as Eric just makes it better.
ReplyDeletetiger-chick-1(at)hotmail(dot)com
I watched the show in the beginning and I own the first two seasons but I've only watched it sporadically since I don't have HBO anymore :(
DeleteYou remember him in Zoolander too? It was on TV at some point during the first season of TB and I was all OMG! I totally forgot about the hot stupid roommates.
DeleteI watched the first two seasons then lost hbo. But got it back recently and I'm ready for the new season tonight. Zoolander movie was great. It takes good actor to play stupid people yet keep their integrity in the movie world.
ReplyDeleteHave you rented the other seasons to catch up or are you going start from this point on?
DeleteI have read books 1-4 and I have seen every episode more than once. I was a bit disappointed though, that this year, on demand didn't bring back all the seasons for me to allow my mom to catch up. She wants to watch now that Chris Meloni has joined the cast!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! I checked in on it a few weeks back and they only had season 4 episodes 7-12. Why wasn't the whole season available? Season one of Game of Thrones was available throughout the whole of season two. Ugh! I wanted to burn the season too.
DeleteI've read the first 3 books, watched the first 3 seasons of true blood, until we lost cable. I have catching up to do but I'm excited.
ReplyDeleteThe books are different yet the same as the series IMO.
DeleteI've read and watched the series. There is a contrast between the books and the show. I like the way Eric and Alcide and potrayed in the show. In the books I always felt that they where too emotional especially towards the later books. I'm not crazy about Tara. I find her whinny. I am so excited for the new season.
ReplyDeleteThe Russel Edgington difference is weird. I was also upset that they got rid of Sophie Anne.
DeleteI have read the books, including her shorts in anthologies... I FINALLY just watched seasons 1-3 in the last month! Love them both... but differently.
ReplyDeletelavendersbluegreen(at)yahoo(dot)com
Yeah, I get the liking them differently thing.
DeleteI haven't watched the show or read any of the books yet.
ReplyDeleteYou're missing out! Good luck with the giveaway!
DeleteGREAT post!! Thanks for joining us in the hop, we really appreciate it
ReplyDeleteHappy TrueBlood Premiere day!!!!!
~Chelle
Just about 10 more hours!
DeleteI love it, i drive my hubby crazy sometimes when i have a marton day and watch nothing but..lol! it's great:) Thanks for the great giveaway:)
ReplyDeleteelliott2668(at)yahoo(dot)com
My man goes a little nuts on those days too LOL
DeleteI haven't read the books or seen the show but I want to. We can't get HBO so I don't get to see it. I would love to read the books. Please enter me in contest. Thanks for the giveaway. Tore923@aol.com
ReplyDeleteThey're both great Tore.
DeleteWatched them all, read quite a few. Just had my truebloodathon to prepare for the next season.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing that right now LOL!
DeleteI love true blood! <3 i was kind of shocked to meet hunter as early as we did though. we didn't meet him that early in the books. i understand that the shows and books are diff but that just caught me off guard. Book four was def my favorite out of the bunch. Book 11 was my least favorite. :-/ i did read 12 a couple weeks ago. i liked it better then 11. i'm kind of sad that there is only one more book.
ReplyDeleteI've fallen behind. I've only read through book 10.
DeleteI have not read this series, but I do watch every season/episode faithfully! I have the books on my TBR, but will most likely wait to read them until the show is over. Or at least books 6-12. I am funny about watching TV shows based on books because they do things differently and sometimes it irritates me that they change characters. Example is Vampire Diaries...why is Elena in the show dark haired and dark eyed and in the books she is golden hair and blue/purple eyed? Bonnie too. Silly, I know. I can be ridiculous sometimes. Lol. A friend read the series and tol,d me that it is good. Thank you for the chance to read it now. ;)
ReplyDeleteOnly 9 more hours!!!
Oh no Tina! Then this will kill you. Alan Ball has taken a lot of artistic license with the show. For instance, we don't even meet Tara till book two. There's lots of other differences too.
DeleteI can't wait until tonight!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!!
liesa008@comcast.net
I watch the show and read the books. They are very different so it makes it fun! Eric is my favorite in both. He's so snarky and you never know what he's going to do next.
ReplyDeleteWhen I paid off my truck I got HBO just so I could watch Trueblood. My husband watches it too and calls it vampire porn. Last season didn'thave much porn though...hopefully we'll get to see more Eric this season! I'll take Alcide too!
I agree that the differences between the books and the show make them boy=th fun!
DeleteI've seen the show, addicted... I love the books, havent read Dead in the Family yet, but excited about it. I still miss Godric and Franklin. I was so totally in love with the crazy mess that was Franklin, he was kinda sexy. I HAVE to know what happens now between Eric and Sookie...was never too fond of Bill. I wish Quinn from the books made it onto the show, that would have been exciting. But, they keep killing off mu faves on the show. They better turn TARA into a vamp, that's all I know. I'll be tuning in tonight. SO EXCITED, CAN'T WAIT!!!
ReplyDeleteUntil you said this I never even thought of the possibility LOL!
DeleteI read the series before the show even started. I love them both. I can't believe the next book is the last in the series! I don't want it to be over!
ReplyDeleteI think i started them about the same time.
DeleteI love the books and the show, even though they're sooo different. Can't wait for tonight!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie!
DeleteI haven't read the books (Yet), but watch the series (tho a bit behind since I don't get HBO unless my cable gives a free weekend). But I've managed to watch the first three seasons.
ReplyDeleteI have read some of the books and seen some the series.Bith are very different.
ReplyDeletepamblakekenlilly@yahoo.com
I have only watched True Blood, not read the books yet. :)
ReplyDeleteThey're very different.
DeleteI've read the Sookie Stackhouse books, a couple times actually, and I've seen a few seasons of True Blood when I can get it on Netflix. The books are addicting!
ReplyDeleteHavent read the books yet, but have seen a few seasons of true blood
ReplyDeleteI've watched all of the seasons and can't wait for tonight's episode! I've only read the first book, but hopefully I'll win your contest so I can read the rest ;)
ReplyDelete~Stacey Brucale

ReplyDeleteHot guys are always draw people Chelsea!

I've watched the show,, but haven't read the books.
ReplyDeleteIve read the first book and LOVED it! I watched season One, but stopped. Im trying to catch up on the reading and watching the other seasons!
ReplyDeleteI've been hooked on the series since the first episode. Great storylines that always surprise me, lots of hunky eyecandy, likeable characters.
ReplyDeletetraymona[at]aol.com
EXACTLY!
Deletemy sister has read some of the book and her and my mom used to watch the show. they need to get back into it though. i have seen some of the show though!
ReplyDeletelauren51990 at aol dot com
I love the books..hated the show after watching 2 episodes. The show doesn't even compare to the books at all.
ReplyDeleteFroggy
I've read ALL the books...and I've seen ALL the True Blood shows. Which do I like better? The books hands down! The show took a left turn way back and I hardly recognize it from the books now. And I don't know why he did that...it's not like they didn't have enough going on in them by themselves!! However it's still hot to watch...if you try not to compare it to the books. Back to the books...I LOVED them up until about book 8...I think...then they just started going down hill. I don't know why Ms. Harris gave up on the series...but she obviously did. I'm glad she's ending it after one more book. The characters deserved better from her...IMO.
ReplyDeletebarbbattaglia @ yahoo.com
Hi Barbara! Actually, her original contract was for 10 books but she announced at Comiccon 2009 that she extended the contract by three books.
DeleteI have read the books and watched the show, big difference that wish was the same was that Lafeyette hadn't died in the book series, he would have been hilarious to have in the series.
ReplyDeleteI have watched every episode of True Blood, but have not gotten a chance to read the books yet.
ReplyDeleteI've read the books since the beginning and love them. True Blood was a bit of a shock. I made myself accept it as a separate entity from the books and enjoy it, but each season half of the storylines bore me (like Maryanne's).
ReplyDeleteI've been watching True Blood since the first season and have read other series by Charlaine Harris (love Lily Bard!), and would LOVE to read the Sookie Stackhouse series!
ReplyDeleteThanks for another amazing giveaway!
elizabeth @ bookattict . com
I've read the first 8 books and watched the first 3 seasons. We don't have cable so I can't see Season 5, but I'm now catching up on Season 4. I love both, although they are very different.
ReplyDeletejlhmass at yahoo dot com
I have watched the first 3 seasons and then sadly had to get rid of pay channels :( I miss it and guess I will have to buy it on DVD. As for the books, I would love to read them, thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletemalibu311 at gmail dot com
I have been loving the TV show since the 1st episode but have purposly not read the books, YET. I want to get the undiluted experience of the TV show for now and then go back and read the books, but I will read them. How could I not? I love the series! sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteHaven't read the books yet but I do love the series.
ReplyDeleteYes I have read the books and seen every episode. This is my favorite series and show! I love Eric and Alcide runs a close second. Thanks for this great giveaway! Gale pgan427@yahoo.com
ReplyDeletei watched in in tv cable and dvd...love bill by the way ^^
ReplyDeletethx u for the giveaway :)
Ok ...I confess..in the beginning? I watched it just to drool over Eric. Then I came to love Pam and Lafeyette. Those are my two fav characters. I'm so glad Pam isn't a zombie anymore. But after about the 3rd season, I started watching for the show...even though Eric had cut his hair he was still just yummy!! I didn't like no memory Eric..I like him better as a confident sacrastic sex symbol :)
ReplyDeleteI read the books way before the True Blood came out and I'm so happy they have switched things up with the show. It keeps me on my toes because I never know what's going to happen. I love the additional characters that are in the show but not in the books and hello, Lafayette!!!! :) I am sad to see that Pam and Sookie don't have that understanding in the show that they do in the books
ReplyDeleteI watch the show and read all the books.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the books but have watched True Blood.
ReplyDeleteI watched seasons 1-2 and loved it, but I don't have HBO anymore. One of my cousins knows that I loved the series and gave me the first 3 books. I hope to watch all of the episodes that I missed someday.
ReplyDeletejmesparza821(at)gmail(dot)com
