All four novellas in the City of the Damned series have appeared on the Amazon.com bestseller list.

Delilah: Welcome Everly, we are thrilled to have you here with us today!
Everly: Thanks for having me!
Delilah: Congratulations on the upcoming release of The Winemaker's Dinner and your contract with Omnific Publishing!
Everly: Thank you. It’s been a whirlwind to say the least.
Delilah: It was a pleasure meeting you at the RT Convention in Chicago. There was quite a bit of publicity going on for your book there, how exciting was that for you?
Everly: RT was the first convention that I’d attended as a writer, so I was beyond thrilled to be a there and to be a part of it.
Delilah: You live in Toronto and Dr. Ivan resides in Miami. Am I right that the RT Convention was the first time you actually met Dr. Ivan in person although you have spent a ton of time with him writing this book?
Everly: It was the first time. We’d previously tried to make plans to meet prior to the convention, but something always came up, so we’d worked together for almost a year before getting the opportunity to meet face to face.
Delilah: The Winemaker's Dinner is an erotic romance based on the past romantic triumphs and tragedies of Dr. Ivan Rusilko’s life. So tell us, how did you and Dr. Ivan come together to create this unique book.
Everly: Hahaha… This story is actually quite funny. I was wasting time on Twitter when one of my followers sent me a link to her Man Candy blog. When I opened the link, there he was, a picture of Ivan barely covered in a sarong with a little arrow pointing to the goodies. Once I was able to form a coherent thought, I scrolled down the page to his bio. Needless to say, I was quite impressed. Who wouldn’t be, right? Doctor, bodybuilder, photographer, wine enthusiast, and seriously sexy. A few days passed and it kept nagging at me. I could envision him as the perfect character in a romance novel. It kept nagging at me for the next month, and I’m shy by nature so it took me a while to actually build up the nerve to approach him about it. Then one day while I was on Facebook, I posted a status update that said something along the lines of me wanting to use him as a character in my next book, and I tagged him in my status update. Next thing I know, he’s messaging me saying that he’d be honored if I used his name. I agreed to run everything past him and let him read the chapters as I wrote them. I got to the second chapter when he sent me an email saying that he wanted to have a go at writing a bit of it, and that’s where it all started. We began writing the book together through emails, thousands and thousands of emails. It didn’t take long to realize that we wrote well together. And now… here we are! A little more than a year later and we’re getting ready to launch The Winemaker’s Dinner.
Delilah: Now tell me that you didn’t have a true moment of “holy shit” when Dr. Ivan first emailed you back and said he wanted to work with you on the story because that man is flat out fine! *wink*
Everly: Yeah, Dr. Ivan is definitely swoon worthy. When he first messaged me back, I thought that maybe his Facebook account got hacked or that it was some sort of practical joke. I must’ve read that message a hundred times before I responded back to him. And I’m not gonna lie… there may have been a cold shower or two involved. *blush*
Delilah: You and Dr. Ivan obviously were burning up the internet lines working on this book. What does your typical day look like when you are writing with him?
Everly: Hmm… there really is no typical day. With Ivan being a practicing physician, we had to work around his crazy schedule. A portion of the book was written while he was working midnights in the ER at a hospital in Meadville. Some nights I’d be up until three or four in the morning and we’d be shooting messages back and forth while he was on break or had a few minutes to spare. Then other times we’d spend the entire day writing. We’d sent so many emails back and forth that Hotmail made me verify my account four times, because no two people sent that many emails.
Delilah: The Winemaker's Dinner is loosely based on Dr. Ivan’s actual life experiences. Every look, touch, taste, etc., is likely something that he experienced himself and eager readers will get to experience that firsthand. So that gives your book quite a unique feel to it doesn’t it.
Everly: That was the entire premise behind the book, to take a real person and incorporate him into a fictional story. How many times have you swooned over a romance hero and wished he was real? There’s even a #BookBoyfriend hashtag on Twitter now. So why not give readers a real life romance hero to swoon over?
Delilah: You are not new to writing erotica. But what is a little different with The Winemaker's Dinner is that the hero is a real life hot blooded male. Being that you got to spend oodles of quality time with the good doctor writing the book did you ever find it a bit distracting when you were writing the sex scenes being that you know him?
Everly: Have I mentioned the cold showers yet? LOL! It was a bit distracting, not because I knew him, but because I had to write a fantasy...HIS fantasy. How would any woman react to him? Answering THAT question was easy and the rest just fell into place. It's funny, because the more I got to know him, the easier the scenes were to write.
Delilah: What is your favorite quality about Dr. Ivan besides the fact that he is downright gorgeous?
Everly: Dr. Ivan is downright down to earth. He’s hard working, honest, modest, and loves him family more than anything else in the world. I don’t think there’s a dishonest bone in that gorgeous body of his.
Delilah: I am sure that the cover for The Winemaker's Dinner is going to be something special. I’m excited because Riverina Romantics will be lucky enough to be one of the few that will get a cover reveal. Since I know that Dr. Ivan is obsessed with photography, I’m wondering if you guys were involved with the cover design.
Everly: We’ve been lucky enough to work with an amazing publicist, and even luckier that we’re all on the same page when it comes to ideas about the book. She sent an email with a few concept ideas for the cover, and it was a no brainer. It was perfect! Ivan has been more involved with creating the cover than I have because he’s on it.
Delilah: The Winemaker's Dinner is due out on July 31, 2012. There has been talk that there are more books to follow off of this one, perhaps a trilogy. What’s in store for us lucky ladies in the future?
Everly: Hmm… I’m not too sure how much I should reveal here. I can tell you that Ivan and I are working on the second book and that The Winemaker's Dinner is intended to be a trilogy. As for when the next two books will be released, I have no idea.
Delilah: There has been a lot of press in anticipation of The Winemaker's Dinner. In fact I sat next to someone from USA Today at lunch during the RT Convention and they were talking about you guys. It looks like things are going to go from 0-60 for you both in the blink of an eye. How are you preparing for what likely is going to be the ride of your life?
Everly: It’s difficult to prepare for something when you don’t know what to expect next. This whole awesome rollercoaster ride had been a learning experience for me. Every day brings with it a new experience. All you can do is roll with the punches and learn as you go. I consider myself to be very blessed. Not only do I have an amazing coauthor, and get to work with and learn from an awesome team at Omnific, but I also have so much support from family, friends, and my community.
Delilah: Congratulations are in order! I see that Divalysscious Moms, the elite NYC-based moms group (http://www.divamoms.com/) has picked The Winemaker's Dinner for their book club read for August of 2012. And I see they are hosting an exclusive book launch party for you and Ivan on July 31st in New York City. How exciting for you guys! Tell us a little bit about what is going to go on at the launch party and if readers are able to score a ticket to it.
Everly: We're so excited to be partnering with Diva Moms for the launch. The party is going to be an intimate evening of wine, Hor d'oeuvres, and book talk. And I believe Dr. Ivan will be reading a steamy excerpt from the book. If readers want to get their hands on a ticket, they can visit the Diva Moms website at http://www.divamoms.com/ and register. Diva Moms is going to be sending out an email to its members and the first 200 to reply will get an evite. Space is limited so you have to be fast.
Delilah: Your previous releases have been in the paranormal genre. How was the transition for you to contemporary?
Everly: For me it was a natural transition. I love both contemporary romance and paranormal romance, so it was a no brainer!
Delilah: And on that note, congratulations are in order! Your series of paranormal erotic romance novellas, The City of the Damned, not only has been on the Amazon.com Best Seller list but recently hit the iBooks Best Seller list in Canada and Australia!
Everly: Thanks! It has, and I’m super excited about it. There seems to be a resurgence of interest in the COTD series and I’ve been receiving a lot of emails about the next book. There will be another book but it won’t be for a while yet.
Delilah: You reside in Toronto, one of my all-time favorite cities. I have family there so we visit often and love, love, love the Marlies and Maple Leafs hockey teams! What are your favorite things about the city you call home?
Everly: I love everything about Toronto! It’s home to some of the best festivals in the world like The Beaches International Jazz Festival and Word On The Street, which is an annual book festival. And then of course there’s the Leafs. But what I love most are the memories that the sites of the city bring to mind, memories like taking my grandma downtown to see the Christmas displays or skipping school for the day to go shopping with my dad at the Eaton’s Centre.
Delilah: Last up, tell us five things about yourself that we would be surprised to find out about you!
1. As much as I love romance and erotica, I have a weakness for YA. Some of my favorite books are in the YA genre.
2. I’m really shy, especially when it comes to guys. In fact, that’s why I started writing erotica in the first place. One of my boyfriends in college was very verbal when it came to sex, and me, not so much. So I began to write him erotic stories as a way to make up for my shortcomings. LOL
3. Most of the writing I do is with a good old fashioned pen and paper. It’s only after I have it written out that I type it up on the computer.
4. I love motorcycles so much that I named my Yorkie Harley.
5. One of my biggest passions in life is animals. I live on a farm on the outskirts of Toronto where I tend to horses, sheep, goats, and my two awesome dogs.
Delilah: Thanks so much for stopping by today Everly, it has been a blast!
