ASTONISHING AUTHOR: Olivia Gates

This week I'm going to bring you 6 posts dedicated to one of my all time favourite type of romance stories - Sheikh's. The dark, dominant and possessive men of the desert. *sigh* I hope you enjoy.

The first author I would like to focus on is Olivia Gates

The Sheikh's Redemption
(Desert Nights #1)

He would claim the throne. And her... For Prince Haidar Aal Shalaan, taking the reins of a kingdom in chaos is a matter of honor. Not that his rivals to the throne would be defeated easily. And then there is Roxanne Gleeson, the one woman whose memory he cannot erase, the lover who once rejected him. Now she pretends a cold disdain for their once-and still-desperate passion. But he will not be denied either the throne of his motherland or Roxanne back in his bed. One is his birthright, the other his heart's desire. And together they are...his redemption.

4 HEARTS

I read The Sheikh's Redemption right at the perfect time. I have an addiction to Sheikh's and hadn't had my fix for a long time.

Straight away I was hooked to the masculine dominance of Haidar. I love the stern, possessive and confident types and although Haidar wasn't confident underneath all his emotional armor he definitely acted self assured.

Roxanne and Haidar are mean't for each other but due to a monumental misunderstanding they are no longer together...*insert dramatic music* Until divine intervention and some seduction on Haidar's behalf solves that.

At times I found myself a little confused about what was going on, especially near the end of the book. The final confrontation with Jalal had me re-reading a little to shake the cobwebs from my mind. But all in all it was a great Sheikh read.

Olivia Gates is a phenomenal writer. Her descriptions are...I can't even find a word to describe it accurately. She just has a way with words that make her stories seem smart.

Already I am gyrating on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating Jalal's book. But what I want even more is Rashid. The scarred, bad boy already has me swooning.

To Touch a Sheikh (Pride of Zohayd #3)

The Sheikh's Surrender

No one gets past Prince Amjad Aal Shalaan's defenses. No one. But when Princess Maram shows up at Amjad's gala in her father's place, destroying Amjad's plans to reclaim what was stolen from his family, Amjad sees red... and uses a freak sandstorm to make her his prisoner of passion.

Swept to safety by the man she's always loved from afar, Maram knows she has one chance to make Amjad see her as a woman. His woman. But when the impossible prince and the unstoppable princess take shelter from the storm, neither is prepared for the aftermath of their desire...

To Tempt a Sheikh
(Pride of Zohayd #2)

He rescued hostage Talia Burke from his royal family's rival tribe and swept her into his strong embrace. But Prince Harres Aal Shalaan soon discovered there was more to the brave beauty than he knew. Talia held information vital to protecting his beloved kingdom -- and she had every reason not to trust him.

Marooned together at a desert oasis, Talia couldn't resist Harres. Yet even as his sizzling seduction entranced her, his loyalty to his family and country would always make them enemies. Falling for the sheikh would be her heart's greatest mistake -- but she feared it was already too late.

3.75 Stars

"Everything before you passed and went to waste." - My favourite heart fluttering quote.

No idea why, the appeal of the sexy, powerful and royal men of the desert just do things for me and I find myself craving them on a regular basis. And I have grown to appreciate the way Olivia Gates portrays these yummy men.

Parts of this book had me deeply enthralled, loving every line, every sweet soft word. It really hit the spot.

Prince Harres Aal Shalaan was flat out gorgeous. He was royalty but yet he treated Talia like a Queen, someone he cherished and loved with a devotion that made me swoon a little.

Although this was a relatively quick read, it was short, sharp and sweet as Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. It was just what I needed.
