The storyline of this quickie is quite funny. I loved that Tenly took the initiative when it came to getting her needs met. OK, so her magic was on the fritz and her conjuring had some amusing results. But who could blame her for trying?

While reading this I found myself feeling proud of Tenly. I am woman hear me roar! Not only had she tried to conjure a lover but she also tried to stick to her morals. That was surprising after all that she had been through. Another reason I was proud of her was because when she found out who Sexton really was, she fought him as best as she could. I'm a stubborn person and I'd like to think that I too would stick to my guns and not allow a man that had hurt me so much touch me.

Sexton seemed like an OK guy but he had a sort of smug attitude at first that irked me. He was clearly in the wrong for leaving Tenly the way he did but he had no intention of apologizing for it. Not cool.

There was one thing that really peeved me about this story and I can't seen to get past it. It's the only reason why it's a 3 instead of a 4. In the blurb, it says that Tenly is a virgin and that as a Wicceen woman she needed to mate to gain control over her waning powers. However, NOWHERE in the story does it talk about her virginity. To me that made no sense. I mean, Tenly could have just needed to have sex with her true mate for all I would have known if I hadn't read the blurb. IMO it's not the blurb's job to say that. Why was there no backup in the story about this subject? It's kinda similar to false advertising if you ask me.

This is the first of Riley Murphy's work that I've read but it won't be the last. I'd love to read a novella by her.
