Catch Me A Cowboy
5 HEARTS
From Goodreads
Shirlene Dalton has it all: a dream marriage to a man who spoils her rotten and the most outrageous mansion Bramble, Texas, has ever seen. But when her husband unexpectedly dies, Shirlene finds herself right back where she started-in a rundown trailer on the wrong side of the tracks. Never the type to let a little bad luck and a whole heap of heartache get her down, Shirlene is ready to prove to the local gossips she can make it on her own . . . until she ends up living next door to the most tempting cowboy in town.
Billy Wilkes has a score to settle and a plan to wipe Bramble right off the map. But when his sexy, redheaded neighbor figures out what he's up to, his good ol' boy charm won't be enough to save him. With the town on his tail, Billy will have to come clean quick-or kiss Shirlene goodbye.
Catch Me A Cowboy is the 3rd book in the Deep In The Heart of Texas series by Katie Lane. I honestly didn’t think I could enjoy a book in this series more than the last one, but I was wrong. I loved, loved, loved it!
Shirlene Dalton grew up rough. She escaped it all when she married a very wealthy, older man. Most people assume she married Lyle for money and many would be surprised to find out she loved him. Now, he’s died of a heart attack and she’s all alone and back to square one. She’s been spoiled for so long and she was so depressed she spent every penny that Lyle left her. Add to that, Lyle’s failing business and loans that were taken out and she’s losing her home, as well. What’s a girl to do? She goes back to the beat up and battered trailer that she grew up in until she could find a way out of this mess. She quickly finds she is out of her element. Her trailer has been taken over by a family of 3 runaway kids. Most people would turn them in and kick them out. Not Shirlene, she keeps her sunny outlook, even though she can barely feed herself. The one big hitch in her step is her redneck neighbor. She has little patience for his good ol’ boy bumbling and his reputation for getting a woman in his bed at the snap of his fingers.
Billy Wilkes has a century old curse to settle. His great grandfather twice removed was shot by the mayor of Bramble, Texas. The family has been cursed ever since. Billy is convinced that the curse will be lifted if he can find his grandfather’s remains and give them a proper burial and then make the small town pay for all his family has endured. He’s been playing the part of redneck for a long while to gain their trust and to find out what he can about the town’s history. He’d do anything to find those remains. That is until now. He’s made a few really good friends and he is drawn to his redheaded neighbor. She’s not the woman he always assumed she was.
This book was so funny and sweet and heartbreaking and sexy and everything you love to read. Billy’s redneck act is priceless. Shirlene jumping into motherhood with both feet and making a huge, but loving mess of things is precious. The crazy townspeople never disappoint. Read this book! You will thank me.

ReplyDeleteAhhh this one is on my tbr list!! I read the last book in the series as a review book and LOVED it. Can't wait to catch up with them and read this one. I'll have to get to them sooner rather than later now. They sound like a fabulous couple :)
