Ally Kincaid returns to Freewill, Wyoming, to see her father after a two year absence. Anticipating a quiet family reunion, she finds herself butting heads with her father’s foreman instead. The man’s arrogance and sexy drawl push all her buttons, making her wonder what he’s hiding beneath his cowboy swagger.
Matt Gentry walked away from the past and shies from the future. No ties means no one gets hurt…until the boss’s daughter, a hot, green-eyed blonde, tempts him to break his own rules.
When tragedy strikes, will building tension and pride destroy their growing attraction or show them the way home?
Take Me Home, Cowboy is the first book I’ve read by Krista Ames. For a short story, I was really impressed.
Ally Kincaid has been away from home for too long. She misses her dad and the family ranch. The more she thinks about it the more she likes the idea of getting away from her city job and overly solicitous boss for just a bit. Excited to be home, she expects to find everything as it always was. Instead, she finds her dad has a new foreman that he has put his absolute trust and faith in. He’s not only helping to make decisions, but he’s rooming in the main house. This doesn’t sit too well with Ally. She’s afraid her dad is being way too trusting. It doesn’t help any that she has an attraction to the new foreman that she just can’t keep fighting.
Matt Gentry is living a very different life than he ever thought he would, yet it’s such a good fit. His past still haunts him and he can’t seem to outrun it. But, what better place to try than a beautiful ranch, working for a man that he respects and doing a job that makes him feel complete. That is until the boss’s daughter comes home and shakes up Matt’s control a bit. She’s hard headed and prickly, but she’s sexy as hell and fun to be around when she lets her guard down. Forever or even long term is not in his vocabulary, so why is Ally making him question his own rules?
“So let me just say, those jealousy vibes you’re throwing off are making me hotter than hell, and I’m having a whole lot of trouble keeping my hands off you right about now.”
I definitely recommend this book for a quick read. It really has a lot to offer for a novella.
